Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 27, 2026
The short version: tdy runs entirely on your Mac. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Your clipboard is processed locally and is never sent to us. tdy only touches the network for the three specific, limited purposes described below — and even then it never sends us anything that identifies you.
What stays on your device
- Your clipboard. When you copy a link, tdy reads it, rewrites it, and writes the clean version back — all locally, in memory. Copied content is never transmitted to tdy.
- Your settings. Toggles, per-provider choices, custom proxies, and excluded apps are stored on your Mac. If you keep iCloud enabled, macOS syncs these settings across your own devices through your personal iCloud account (see “iCloud” below). They are not sent to us.
- Your history. The recent-rewrites list shown in the menu lives only in memory and is cleared when you quit.
When tdy uses the network
tdy makes outbound network requests only in these cases:
- Rule updates. Periodically, tdy downloads its provider list (which proxy to use for each platform, tracking parameters to strip, etc.) from
edge.tdy.app. This request sends no personal data — only a rotating, non-identifying access token. Like any web request it includes your IP address at the network layer; we do not log it to a profile or associate it with you. - Link previews (optional). When “Show link previews” is enabled, tdy fetches public page metadata (title/description) for a rewritten link so it can show you a preview. This contacts the link’s host or its embed proxy with that URL. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Short-link resolving (optional, off by default). When enabled, tdy requests a copied short link (e.g. a
bit.lyURL) to follow its redirects to the real destination. This contacts the shortener with that URL. You can leave it off.
In the optional cases, the request goes directly from your Mac to the relevant website or proxy — not through tdy’s servers.
What tdy never does
- No account, login, or email required.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash trackers, or advertising SDKs.
- No selling, sharing, or brokering of data — there is no data to sell.
- No logging of your clipboard, your links, or your usage on our servers.
iCloud
If iCloud is enabled on your Mac, tdy uses Apple’s iCloud key-value store to keep your settings in sync across your devices. This data is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy; tdy has no access to your iCloud account and receives none of it. You can disable iCloud for tdy in System Settings.
Third-party proxies
tdy rewrites links to community-run embed proxies (for example fxtwitter.com). When you paste and open such a link, you are visiting that third party’s service, which has its own privacy practices. tdy is not affiliated with these services and does not control them.
Children
tdy is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and post the new version here. Material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
